Jennifer Clauss – Owner and General Manager
Jen was bitten by the horse bug as a girl, and hasn’t yet outgrown it. She grew up in upstate New York riding Quarter Horse Hunters and Jumpers while attending Colgate University, where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English Literature, with a minor in Chinese.
In addition to qualifying for the AQHA world show multiple years, she rode to New York State yearend championships in Amateur Jumpers and Novice Amateur Working Hunters. Additionally, she has showed her horses to multiple top-10 wins at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Green Working Hunter and Amateur Working Hunter, as well as being a finalist in Hunter Hack. She has shown all over the East Coast at the largest AQHA and USEF hunter shows, including Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show, Virginia East Coast Championships, Florida Gold Coast, New York State Breeder’s Show, North Carolina State Fair, and the Kentucky Futurities in Lexington, Kentucky.
She settled down from the horse show life on the road long enough to earn her MBA from Wake Forest University, have a daughter, Margaret, and have a “real job” in the corporate world. After nearly 20 years of Fortune 500 experience in sales and marketing, while managing her own private barn on the side, she was able to realize her lifelong dream of owning and operating a commercial horse farm.
Jen believes in solid riding fundamentals and old school horse care and training, with an underlying theme of respect for the animal. You are as likely to see her mowing pastures, cleaning stalls, grooming a pony, riding a horse, or watching kids’ riding lessons any day on the farm. She is a frank, direct communicator and a hands-on owner who values “no short cuts” in all aspects of horse care, and the ensuing rewards of a job well done.
Anne Morgan has been a Hunter/Jumper Professional in the Winston-Salem/Greensboro area for more than 20 years. She has enjoyed training, instruction and showing at all levels with special focus on the “C” and “A” Regional shows as well as the Ocala, Florida Winter Circuit.
A 1981 graduate of Hollins College (Roanoke, VA), Anne rode for the nationally recognized Hollins IHSA Equestrian Team. Her positive experience with IHSA led her to coach IHSA teams for both Wake Forest University and Elon University for 17 consecutive years.
Anne’s drive and passion for training was inspired by the example of her mother, who was a Hunter/Jumper professional throughout Anne’s childhood, and is still teaching and training today.
With 14 years of success in Marketing, Advertising and Product Development, Anne left the corporate world to become a full business partner in Cedar Hollow, LLC in 1993. Cedar Hollow was known for its tremendously popular schooling show series complete with year end awards. Anne hopes to help Canterlane Farm restart a similar series geared to providing a happy, fun and safe environment for riders and horses just getting started.
